Hey there! I’m Ta’Ron Joyner, the creative force behind 1991 Design. I was born in the big city of New York but found my groove in Atlanta. I’ve been a creative soul all my life, starting out as a freelance graphic designer and now rocking it as a visual identity specialist with a serious love for branding, packaging, and presentations.
My design journey kicked off in a rather unexpected way—I got ghosted by a designer for an event I was hosting. Instead of letting that stop me, I dove headfirst into the world of design, and I’ve never looked back. With over 9 years in the industry, I’ve had the pleasure of working with cool brands like Taliah Waajid Brand, OkayPlayer/OkayAfrica, Mixed Chicks, HelloSunshine, and FashionBombDaily.
At 1991 Design, I’m all about helping brands bring their ideas to life. I believe every brand has a story that can engage, surprise, and delight its audience. While I can design all sorts of things, what really lights me up is branding and creating killer packaging. I love helping brands connect with their audience through design that’s both beautiful and practical.
When I’m not designing, you can find me hunting down the best new restaurants, hitting up local events, or just exploring my city. Being a mom is my favorite job, with design coming in a close second. I’m based in Atlanta but work with clients from all over the world, and I absolutely love connecting with people and hearing their unique stories.

I jumped headfirst into the design world, cranking out free work to build my portfolio and teaching myself the ropes. With a bit of guidance from my parents, who had some design chops from their own business ventures, and a dash of business savvy from my mom, I snagged a few paid gigs. Balancing life as a mom, an event admin assistant, a nightclub door girl, and a design side hustle was a task. It was a year of learning, hustling, and laying the foundation for my future in design.
Despite the global challenges of 2020, I found my stride. Companies that I thought were oblivious to the work I was doing suddenly took notice. I produced some of my best work ever and started a podcast, ‘Creatives And,’ where I chatted with fellow creatives about our shared experiences and tips for newcomers. It was a year of growth, skill-building, and connecting with the creative community.
I took a bold leap, resigning from my full-time job to dive headfirst into growing my business. The journey has been both daunting and incredibly rewarding. This year, I’m focusing on connecting with fellow creatives and strengthening my network. I’m diving into content creation to continue my mission of educating and inspiring up-and-coming designers. It’s an exciting time to push boundaries and support others in their creative journeys.
